Rules of Chess 2016

RULES OF CHESS

First Round will be played as "Single Game". 
Pre-QF/Quarter Final onwards will be played as "Best of 3 games"

Toss

Player who wins the toss of coin or "hide and seek" shall have the right to play White in the first game.

Second Game (QUARTER FINAL onwards)

The player who played "White" in the first game shall play "Black" in the next game.

Third Game (QUARTER FINAL onwards)

In case of players winning one game each, the third game will be played.  In this case the right to play White will once again be decided through toss of coin or hide and seek.  Tossing of coin or hiding the coin will be done by the person who was at the receiving end during the first game.

Repetition of Moves

Players are not allowed to repeat the same move more than three times.

50 Moves Rule

If the player is left with no other coin or move apart from King and if the succeeds in doing 50 moves the game will be drawn.

Stalemate

In case of stalemate, the game will end in a Draw.

Touching Pieces

Players touching his own coin must move it compulsorily.  If the player touches a coin of the opponent, he must remove that coin compulsorily.

POINTS

Winner of a game gets 2 points.  In case of a draw, 1 point will be awarded to each player.

Timing

Players are advised to finish their move within 2 minutes.  Umpire for that match will prompt the player in this regard and player must oblige.  Otherwise umpire has the right to award match to your opponent.

QUALIFICATION TO QUARTER FINAL

After Round 1, Qualification to Quarter Final will be based on total points accrued.  If two players are tied on points, qualification will be based on the player who won with least time.
